Definite Purpose Contactors
A definite purpose contactor is a contactor built for a specific kind of load, typically heating, air conditioning, refrigeration and similar equipment, as opposed to a general purpose motor contactor. BRAH Electric lists 120 definite purpose contactors in its own Elite Series, type BDP. They are rated 600V, from 20A to 90A, in 1-pole, 2-pole, 3-pole and 4-pole versions, with six coil voltages from 24VAC to 480VAC at 50/60Hz. Listings show amperage, poles, family and coil voltage, and each part is cross-referenced to competitor part numbers.
A part that replaces an OEM part number is listed under that number as well as under its BRAH part number, so the results count below can be higher than the number of parts.

BRAH Elite Series definite purpose contactors
Overview
The range is built from 20 combinations of poles and amperage, each offered with six coils. 1-pole, 2-pole and 4-pole contactors are listed at 20A, 25A, 30A and 40A. 3-pole contactors are listed at 20A, 25A, 30A, 40A, 50A, 60A, 75A and 90A. The six coil voltages are 24VAC, 120VAC, 208/240VAC, 277VAC, 380VAC and 480VAC. The 1-pole and 2-pole parts are single phase, and the 3-pole and 4-pole parts are 3-phase.
How do I read a BRAH definite purpose contactor part number?
Part numbers spell out the rating: BDP3P30A120V is a 3-pole, 30A contactor with a 120VAC coil. The terminal style is given in each product description.
Because these are BRAH parts, there is no single OEM number. Instead each contactor is cross-referenced to the definite purpose contactor numbers of other makers, about 700 in all, such as 8910DP21V14, C25ANB125A and CR453CB1HAA. Search for the number on the contactor being replaced, or choose by poles, amperage and coil voltage. Matching auxiliary contacts, replacement coils and a mechanical interlock for the Elite Series are listed in their own sub-categories. Definite purpose contactors carry a 2-year warranty from the date of invoice. Listings marked UL Listed or UL Recognized show it in their specifications.
