Bus Plug Operating Handles

The operating handle is the external handle that switches a bus plug on and off from outside the enclosure. BRAH Electric lists three replacement handles: GEBPHANDLE1 and GEBPHANDLE2 for General Electric bus plugs, and BOSHANDLE1 for Siemens and ITE BD Series plugs. Each also fits the matching BRAH substitute plugs. The handles are sized by the plug can, so the amperage of the plug decides which one is needed. Listings show the amperage range, voltage, family and type.

A part that replaces an OEM part number is listed under that number as well as under its BRAH part number, so the results count below can be higher than the number of parts.

Operating handles by plug family and can size

Overview

GEBPHANDLE1 is for 30A, 60A, 100A and 200A can sizes, and GEBPHANDLE2 is for 400A, 600A, 800A and 1200A can sizes. Both suit General Electric SB, SL, AC, FVK, DE and DH plug models (Spectra, Spectra Low-Amp, Armor Clad, Type FVK, Type DE and Type DH) and the BRAH substitutes for them.

BOSHANDLE1 is for 30A, 60A and 100A plugs in the Siemens, ITE and Gould BD Series (type BOS), and the BRAH substitute models for them.

To choose a handle, read the plug type and amperage from the nameplate and pick the handle whose range includes it. The General Electric handles are not listed for BD Series plugs, and the two GE handles are listed for different can sizes.

The handle works the switch inside the plug. If the handle moves but the plug does not switch, the internal switch may be the part at fault; those are listed under floating contact switches. Operating handles carry a 2-year warranty from the date of invoice.
