A shunt trip is a coil-operated accessory inside a circuit breaker that trips the breaker when its coil is energized, so the breaker can be opened from a remote switch, relay or emergency stop circuit. BRAH Electric lists 23 shunt trips: 21 for General Electric Power Break I insulated case breakers and two for Merlin Gerin Compact CM breakers. Control voltages run from 12VDC to 480/600VAC. Each listing shows the family, type, voltage and the breaker frame size the shunt trip suits.
A part that replaces an OEM part number is listed under that number as well as under its BRAH part number, so the results count below can be higher than the number of parts.

Shunt trips by breaker frame and control voltage
Overview
For Power Break I there are two types. Type TPST fits the small frame breakers (TRLA, TRLL, TRPA, TRPP, TRL and TRP) rated 800A to 2000A. Type TSST fits the large frame breakers (TPS, THS, TPSS and THSS) rated 2500A to 4000A, and is listed in L and R versions, shown by the last letter of the part number; match the letter on the part being replaced. Both types are offered in 12VDC, 24VDC, 48VDC, 125VDC, 250VDC, 120/240VAC and 480/600VAC.
For Merlin Gerin Compact CM frame breakers rated 800A to 3200A, BE-CMST24VDC replaces OEM part number 55544 and BE-CMST120VAC replaces 55592. Each is a shunt trip assembly with its coil.
How do I choose a shunt trip?
To choose, match the breaker family and frame size, then the control voltage, AC or DC, of the circuit that will energize the coil. The General Electric parts keep the OEM number with a BE- prefix, so BE-TSST9R replaces TSST9R. A shunt trip needs voltage applied to trip the breaker; where a breaker has to open on loss of voltage, an undervoltage release is the part to use. Shunt trips carry a 2-year warranty from the date of invoice.
